Designing Unique & Special Mountain Resorts That Work

The creation of our plans is more than a mechanical exercise. It is a planning process where we take into account the reasons why people are attracted to mountain resort areas. We work closely with our clients to help clarify their vision of their resort development projects. We carefully consider the physical and environmental capabilities of the land to support the proposed resort development. Throughout the process we proactively address issues that will impact on the sustainability of the project, environmentally, socially and economically.

Mountain Bike Park Planning

Mountain biking, in its two primary forms of lift-serviced downhill and cross-country, is a significant growth opportunity for mountain resorts. Effectively the same demographic that skis participates in mountain biking. BHA has carefully analyzed and tabulated the design criteria of mountain biking facilities that work. Applying these to our plans, combined with GIS analyses of the study areas, we define mountain bike opportunities that tie into the overall potential at a resort. We delineate trail networks that cater to the full range of the biking marketplace and, much like with skiing facilities, determine carrying capacities that define associated operational considerations. Subsequently we create plans that guide in the development of mountain bike parks, trails and staging facilities.
