Designing Unique & Special Mountain Resorts That Work

The creation of our plans is more than a mechanical exercise. It is a planning process where we take into account the reasons why people are attracted to mountain resort areas. We work closely with our clients to help clarify their vision of their resort development projects. We carefully consider the physical and environmental capabilities of the land to support the proposed resort development. Throughout the process we proactively address issues that will impact on the sustainability of the project, environmentally, socially and economically.

Resort Residential Planning

The type, placement, size and scale of residential development at a mountain resort have a critical impact on the character and quality of experience offered. Done well, overnight accommodation can play an integral role in the success of the resort. Done poorly, the quality of the place is compromised and it quickly becomes apparent to resort visitors that the developer has not respected the site’s attributes. BHA applies an in-depth understanding of the desired traits that establish overnight accommodation as a complement to the resort. We apply our belief that mountain environments have absolute limits to growth.

We tie the number of beds to be developed to the carrying capacities of the attractions and quality of the environment. We carefully integrate resort residential development into the site, planning for direct access to the skiing and all-season trails, while positioning units to capture the surrounding views and solar access. In this fashion, our plans are designed to maximize real estate values, captured market and return visitation.
