Development on mountainous terrain requires special solutions. We have the in-house experience to determine the best pre-engineering design, setting grades to ensure all of the resort components work together from ski in / ski out trail connections to complex, multi-level village plans.

Once the Master Plan is in place, we work closely with our clients assisting in the approval processes. This includes applications for: Master Plan Approvals, Tenure Permits, Official Community Plan Amendments, Development Permit Approvals and Zoning Bylaw Approvals.

Design Guidelines

We have authored the “Guidelines to Alpine Ski Area Development in British Columbia” and the “All Season Resort Guidelines” for the Province of British Columbia. BHA has also created the development guidelines for a variety of ski resorts.

Assisting the province of British Columbia and Alberta, BHA has evaluated a variety of ski resort development proposals. In each case we brought an objective opinion regarding the value of the physical layout, the reality of the proposed capacities and the probability of success.
