Our team of experienced professionals possess backgrounds in planning, landscape architecture, engineering, resource management, business administration and environmental studies. Working together, we utilize our broad knowledge base to address the specific and often unique needs of our clients.
Brent Harley
Brent Harley
Brent Harley has been involved in all aspects of resort development for the past thirty-five years.
With Bachelor degrees in environmental studies and landscape architecture, and a Masters of Business Administration, Brent has focused on mountain resort master planning, village planning and golf and mountain bike resort planning throughout Canada, the USA, Australia, China, Japan, Korea and New Zealand.
As an extension to the planning, Brent has also become very involved in the approval processes for these projects, working closely with his clients and the various government bodies to achieve the desired end results.
Living in Whistler since 1978 has afforded Brent the opportunity to participate in the planning of all aspects of that resorts’ development. He has served on the Whistler Advisory Planning Commission and Advisory Design Panel and is an active participant in the ongoing issues of this world class destination. He is a member of the Canadian Society of Landscape Architects, the Canada West Ski Areas Association and the National Ski Areas Association.
Matt Bakker
Matt has a background in resource management, planning, and community development. Coming from SFU’s School of Resource and Environmental Management where he focused on tourism, recreation, and user behaviour, he enjoys understanding the challenges and opportunities facing a project, and providing solutions that achieve economic, social, cultural, and environmental objectives.
Matt brings a diverse set of skills to BHA, including environmental, climate, market and industry analysis, report production, GIS analysis, cartography, stakeholder consultation and facilitation. Working as a project coordinator and resort planner, he enjoys applying these skills to the creation of distinctive mountain and recreation master plans.
When not in the office Matt can be found in the mountains, biking or running along single track, or splitboarding in the Sea to Sky region’s amazing backcountry.

Kyle Vash
Kyle Vash
Kyle brings a strong background in planning and design to BHA, as well as skills involving GIS database management and 3D modeling. He holds a degree in Geography and Earth Sciences, as well as a post-graduate degree in Geospatial Analysis. With experience in policy planning for local government he employs these skills in all ski area and bike park management planning processes. He enjoys bridging the gap between real world data and 2D/3D design to create unique and fascinating resort planning products.
Kyle started snowboarding and biking in Ontario many years ago, but with sights always set on the awe-inspiring big mountain terrain of British Columbia. Having made the move out west, he enjoys refining his snowboarding skills on the local mountains and can be seen frequenting the local breweries. His summer activities include downhill and enduro mountain biking, trail building, hiking, fishing and surfing.
Ryan Robertson
Ryan comes to BHA with a strong background in GIS mapping and application programming, vector drawing, data analysis and processing. His high tech computer skills are combined with an experienced eye for map rendering and the creation of communicative graphics and layout. As a long term Squamish resident, Ryan likes to spend his time biking and exploring BC’s great backyard with his kids and friends.

A long time Whistler resident, Sue has been with BHA since 1997. A bookkeeping diploma and background in the service industry allows her to keep the office running smoothly while maintaining an active interest in the business of skiing. Outdoor pursuits include both downhill and cross country skiing, mountain biking and windsurfing.
Nancy Harley
Nancy is the behind the scenes person that helps keep BHA a successful business. Another long time local, Nancy manages to juggle a number of community volunteer positions along with her passion for the outdoor and her work as the business manager of BHA.

The Office
Our office is located in one of the World’s recreation capitals – Whistler, BC. From our offices we explore, examine, and live in this mountain recreation ‘test tube’, continually analyzing what works and what doesn’t, and developing innovative design and planning solutions.
