Town of Banff Community Plan

The Town of Banff, Alberta is located in Banff National Park, in the heart of the Canadian Rockies. The town is an increasingly popular tourist destination, acting as a staging area for trips into the surrounding parkland and a showcase for the region’s rich history.

BHA was engaged to develop a new Community Plan for the Town of Banff, with the overarching goal to build upon the Town’s status as a National Park community within a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and foster an appreciation of its natural setting, history, and culture among visitors and locals alike.

The vision for the Town of Banff was developed by the community through inclusive and extensive public consultation process facilitated by BHA. The vision enshrined sustainability as its foundation, with future development building off the Town’s unique character and celebrating the community’s success as a vibrant and successful resort town. The Community Plan developed by BHA acts as a high quality planning framework that enables the Town of Banff to be a global leader in environmental protection, restoration and education.
